YORK Racecourse chiefs have been putting the finishing touches to the famous Knavesmire circuit as they prepare to welcome a new season of top class thoroughbred action.
The May Festival, the traditional start to York's season, begins today with the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes, the feature race. It heralds 15 days of racing this year.
James Brennan, marketing manager at York Racecourse, said: "We're all looking forward to seeing the return of existing stars, like Sergeant Cecil, and spotting some future ones."
Meanwhile, Derby favourite Twice Over will face five rivals in tomorrow's totesport.com Dante Stakes. Henry Cecil's three-year-old takes his place with Centennial, Tartan Bearer, Frozen Fire, Young Pretender and McCartney.
