TWO mock car crashes and an animal rescue were among the demonstrations put on for visitors at the Emergency Services Open Day at Malton fire station on Saturday.

Fire crews showed how they deal with such situations at the event, where the public could see their vehicles and equipment up close.

Other services in attendance included police, the ambulance service and mountain rescue.

Malton firefighter Bryan Barrett said: “We had a very successful day - 700 people attended and we raised £250 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

“A sincere thank you to North Yorkshire Police, Ryedale District Council, Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and North York’s Road Safety Team for making it such a successful event.”
