POLICE closed a section of the A64 after a pedestrian was hit by a van this morning.
North Yorkshire Police urged motorists to avoid the A64 between Askham Bar and Fulford Interchange, after a woman in her forties was hit by a van.
The severity of her injuries is not yet known, but police said the road was blocked and likely to remain partially closed for some time.
Paramedics and police were called to the scene at just before 10.40am, and a police spokeswoman said the eastbound carriageway of the road had been closed and urged drivers to find alternative routes.
The eastbound carriageway reopened at about 11.45am.
