WHILE the actions of a grandmother chaining herself to railings as a protest makes a good human story, with the resultant publicity giving her and her fellow campaigners a boost (Letters, September 4), it is their wish for “ecocide” to be made a crime that concerns me.
They say it means “deliberate destruction of the natural environment”. Will this mean that it will be a crime to build houses or roads or industrial sites on natural surroundings, or a crime to reclaim woodlands for farming land in food poverty countries?
If it does become law, at least the ridiculous HS2 concept will be illegal and will have to be scrapped.
