CELEBRITY lifeguard Trent ‘Maxi’ Maxwell, star of the Australian TV programme Bondi Rescue, is visiting a North Yorkshire seaside town on Wednesday to champion water safety.
The Royal Life Saving Society UK ambassador will join partners Swim England, the RNLI and local charity the Andrew McGeown Legacy Fund on Scarborough’s North Bay Beach for their Swim Safe programme.
The free sessions, led by qualified swimming instructors and lifeguards, teach young people aged 7 to 14 how to stay safe in and around open water. Parents and carers can find out more and book a place at swimsafe.org.uk
Ashley Jones, Swim Safe delivery manager, said: “Having Maxi join in will bring a unique perspective to our work on beach safety and open water swimming.
“His attendance will add an exciting perspective for the young people, our instructors and lifeguards, who will benefit from sharing their stories and experiences of helping people stay safe in the water.”
