YORK'S Roxanne Pallett is among the current favourites to win Celebrity Big Brother.

The Minster FM breakfast show host, who formerly starred in Emmerdale, joined the Channel 5 show last week and is among the early favourites to win the show.

Roxanne, who was in the national news last month after crashing in a stock car race in Hunmanby Raceway, said: “I’ve decided to take part in Celebrity Big Brother – because if not now, when?

"It’s the year for me of ‘Yes.’ What followed the accident and the media frenzy was quite a lot of backlash online – I was trolled for not being injured enough… They absolutely contributed to a really difficult time.”

Recent shows have seen Roxanne sing the American national anthem and saw her apparently pushed into a pool by accident by Hardeep Singh Kohli.

Among UK bookies Roxanne is currently second or third favourite to win the show.

William Hill has given her odds of 6/1 after actors Ryan Thomas and Kirstie Alley, meanwhile Paddy Power is currently placing her at sceond place, offering odds of 4/1 with Ryan Thomas with 2/1 and Kirstie Alley third with 9/2.

Other contestants include ex-Arsenal and Liverpool footballer Jermaine Pennant, shamed banker Nick Leeson, Love Island star Gabby Allen, TOWIE star Dan Osborne, 'Psychic Sally' Morgan, and Chloe Ayling, who was kidnapped and held captive for six days last year when she attended a fake photoshoot in Italy.
