THIS year’s Proms at Castle Howard has new sponsorship from a Malton-based car retailer.

Cooper BMW/Mini will be supporting the summer celebration on Saturday, and features headline performances from Yorkshire’s own Lesley Garrett, with the London Gala Orchestra conducted by Stephen Bell and 75 members of York Musical Society. There will also be a flyover from a Spitfire, a laser show and a firework finale.

Owen Brown, head of business at the dealership, said: “So many of our customers from around Ryedale attend the Castle Howard Proms, so we thought that would be a marvellous way of seeing our local BMW fans, and showcase five of our cars to discerning motorists from further afield.

“Once audience members have finished their picnics, and before the music starts, they are welcome to come and take a look at some of our best-selling models.”

Gates open at 5pm for a 7.30pm start. The event will finish at 10pm. Tickets are available from lphconcerts.co.uk, priced at £33 for adults and £5 for children. Under fives go free.
