RECORD producer and engineer Ken Scott, who worked with The Beatles and David Bowie, will be in conversation with Charm gig promoter and Harrogate journalist Graham Chalmers at Hampsthwaite Memorial Hall, near Harrogate, on September 7.

This 7.30pm event has been organised by Hampsthwaite Action Group members as a fundraiser for their fight against multiple housing developments in their Nidderdale village, a campaign that began 12 months ago.

"Ken, who lives in Hampsthwaite, has contributed to over a quarter of a billion music recordings over the past five decades, working as a highly respected record producer and engineer with musicians such as The Beatles, David Bowie, Elton John, Jeff Beck, Lou Reed and Duran Duran to name but a few," says Chalmers.

"September 7's special event will be an opportunity to hear Ken talk about his long and successful career in the recording industry in London, Los Angeles and Nashville and specifically about his work on records such as The Beatles’ White Album, David Bowie’s Hunky Dory and Elton John’s Honky Chateau.

"There'll be an auction of some unique music memorabilia items and the evening will end with the Audience Choice: an authentic audio and listening experience of one of Ken’s recordings selected by the audience on the night to be played on vintage Hi-Fi equipment, courtesy of Harrogate’s Vinyl Sessions."

Tickets for An Evening With Ken Scott are available at £7.50 from Hampsthwaite village outlets and the Hampsthwaite Action Group on 01423 771913. "It promises to be a fantastic and special evening for all those who love the music of the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties," says Chalmers.
