A FILM made in York and starring a former star of Doctor Who is now available to view.

Mad To Be Normal filmed in Walmgate and locations around the city, with David Tennant and crowds of extras wearing vintage 1960s clothing.

The film tells the story of Scottish psychiatrist Dr R.D. Laing, known as The Acid-Marxist for his use of psychotropic drugs in treatment, and also features performances by Elisabeth Moss, Gabriel Byrne, Michael Gambon and David Bamber.

Mad To Be Normal was filmed last year and had a limited release in UK cinemas in April, but was released on Monday on Video On Demand or digital streaming through iTunes and Amazon.

A DVD release date has not yet been set.
