MEMBERS of staff from Yorkshire's only five start hotel have entered the annual St Leonard’s Hospice It’s a Knockout fundraiser.

Ditching their hotel uniforms, staff from The Grand Hotel will be taking part in fun and foamy games as part of the contest on Sunday, September 2.

Around the World in 80 Days is the theme of this year’s tournament, which usually involves a good soaking for all involved.

Games include building a hot air balloon in "Up, Up & Away", posting giant letters in the "Dutch Post Office," and a ride in VW Campervans in "A Drive Down Route 66",

The Grand Hotel is just one of the teams that have entered so far. They will be going up against up to 26 other teams, and hope to raise lots of money in sponsorship for St Leonard’s Hospice.

Sales coordinator at the hotel and team captain, Rebecca Murphy, said: "Myself and the team are very excited to be taking part in the tournament, it’s going to be a really fun day while raising money for such a worthy cause.

"St Leonard’s Hospice holds a special place in many people’s hearts."

To take part in It's A Knockout, team of between six and 10 people over the age of 16 can enter by visiting www.stleonardshospice.org.uk or calling hospice fundraiser Annie Keogh on (01904) 777 777. A £100 non-refundable deposit is required to secure a place, and a pack will be sent out with fundraising ideas and sponsor forms.

Spectators are encouraged come along, cheer on the teams and be part of the day to support St Leonard’s Hospice. There will be rides, tombolas, games, inflatables, as well as a cake stall and burger van.
