A MAN has denied causing the death of a 12-year-old girl by driving after taking cocaine and alcohol.
Gary Smith was charged following a hit and run near a school bus shortly after the end of school on October 6, 2017, in Byram west of Selby.
As members of the girl's family watched in the public gallery at York Crown Court, Smith, of Summerfield Drive, Knottingley, denied two charges.
He denied causing death by careless driving when drink driving and causing death by careless driving when drug driving.
He was released on conditional bail until his trial on January 28 at the same court.
