YORK artist Allen 'Lem' Humphries is holding his debut exhibition at Village Gallery, in Colliergate, York, until August 25.

Humphries works primarily in watercolour and pastels and his subject matter is influenced by the Northumbrian coastline with its combinations of sky, sea and castles. York inspires him too, offering plenty of opportunities to explore many locations and views.

On show and for sale too are scarves, ties, brooches and pictures by York batik artist Rebecca Mason; plein-air landscape paintings by prolific York artist Malcolm Ludvigsen; turned wood bowls and vases by young Holmfirth artist Ralph Shuttleworth and the limited-edition bronze sculptures of Edward Waites.

"We're also delighted to welcome the fine contemporary jewellery of Paul Allinson too; through our gallery Paul will be available to take on commissions for bespoke special pieces," says Village Gallery's Simon Main.
