FIRE crews were called to an arson attack at a derelict building.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to a two-storey derelict building in Musham Bank Road, Eastfield, near Scarborough, at 12.40am on Saturday.

Crews from Scarborough, Filey and Sherburn, and the aerial ladder from Scarborough were called to the scene, where the building suffered severe fire, heat and smoke damage and possibly some structural damage.

A spokesman said the cause was believed to be deliberate.
