TRAIN lines between York and Doncaster have reopened after a fire next to the track caused travel chaos this afternoon.
All lines between York and Doncaster were blocked due to a fire near Balne, Selby.
The incident caused major disruption and many trains were severely delayed or cancelled.
A spokesman for LNER said tickets for travel today will be accepted on services tomorrow for passengers who decided not to make their journey.
North Yorkshire Fire Service was called to the fire next to the railway line at about 2pm.
A fire service spokesman said there were several patches of fire over a mile-long stretch next to the line.
Firefighters from Selby, Goole, Snaith and Pontefract were also called to the scene.
#LNERUpdate Fire services and @networkrail are still working hard to clear the fires between #York and #Doncaster.

I don’t even know any more, got kicked off at York from Edinburgh. Think this was originally a 14.58 to Kings Cross. Surely there’s a coach that could have taken all this luggage , this is horrific. Expect a lot of complaints

How do we go about getting a refund? We've been at York for an hour, and are now all shoved on the next train standing in aisles like sardines with no air-con, or information, still just waiting here doing nothing.
