A TUG of war challenge, a miniature railway and a beer tent will be among the highlights at this year’s Fulford Show.

The event will take place on August 27, Bank Holiday Monday, and will raise money for local and national charities.

It will be held between 1pm and 5pm on the School Lane playing field and in the Social Hall, Fulford.

The show will also feature a variety of charity stalls, tombola, face painting, family sports, musical entertainment, food and refreshments. Stall spaces are available for hire.

In addition, there will be a craft and produce exhibition and competition at the Social Hall, which adults and children can take part in. Classes include bakery, photography and painting, beer and winemaking, flowers, vegetables and arts and crafts. Exhibits should be brought to the Social Hall, between 8.30am and 10.15am on the day of the show. Entry forms are available on the day, or at any time from the ‘exhibits’ page on the Fulford Show website - www.fulfordshow.org.uk.

Helen Webster, from the Fulford Show tombola team, said: “We have some fantastic prizes every year from business donors and individuals, such as tickets for York Races, vouchers for hair and beauty treatments, and many other valuable items. We welcome any unused items, such as confectionery, wine, jewellery, toiletries and craft items. If any residents are able to donate a prize or two, it would be very much appreciated. Please ring or email 01904 466074 or info@fulfordshow.org.uk before August 20 and we will include these in the tombola stall.”

Entry to the show is free, but it will cost 50p to visit the exhibition at the Social Hall.
