A POPULAR great-grandmother of four and talented cake-maker has celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends.
Nora Buckle, from Riccall, marked the occasion on Wednesday with a party organised by her son Trevor and attended by guests from as far away as Australia and New Zealand.
Mrs Buckle, the youngest of 12 children, grew up in villages around York including Thornton and Skipwith.
She is well-known for baking "fantastic" cakes for every occasion and taught her grandchildren and their friends how to decorate cakes from a young age.
Mrs Buckle, who has two sons and four grandchildren, is also a keen bowler and only retired as a member of Riccall Bowls Club at the age of about 90. Her family added that she enjoys gardening and playing cards - she continues to play Whist regularly.
