MEMBERS of York Round Table are celebrating success after helping to raise thousands of pounds for a local hospice.

The social and fundraising group has donated £5,000 to St Leonard’s Hospice, on York's Tadcaster Road, which it raised through its annual Charity Beer Festival held at York Brewery in June.

Helen Rook, fundraiser at St Leonard's said: “We are so pleased to have support from everyone at York Round Table. York Beer Festival was a superb event and hugely successful too, both for raising awareness of the Hospice services as well as raising vital funds for our care.”

Aaron Hajba-Ward, treasurer of York Round Table, added: “St Leonard’s Hospice is a great charity. It is close to many people’s hearts and we are all extremely impressed with the work that they do. I was delighted to be able to present a cheque to them and know every penny will be well spent and help to make a difference. I would also like to take the opportunity on behalf of York Round Table to thank York Brewery and all the businesses and individuals who have supported our fundraising activities throughout the year.”

St Leonard's is an independent charity providing specialist palliative care and support for those with a life-limiting illness.

York Round Table is open to all men aged 18 to 45 and is currently actively recruiting new members. For more information email yorkroundtable65@gmail.com to find out about upcoming events and community activity
