A TEENAGER has set up a new business offering a delivery service for the independent shops in Malton
Nathan Chapman, 19, who lives in the town, has stopped his business management and entrepreneurship degree in Nottingham after his first year to follow his passion for local shops.
His new business - Locavo - aims to combines the speed and convenience of online shopping with some of Malton’s best independent food shops.
Nathan said: “From one simple and easy to use website you can choose from almost a thousand products, all from independent food shops in Malton and select a specific time and day for your delivery.
“On the day of your delivery a Locavo delivery driver will collect each part of your order from each local shop in an specially designed, temperature controlled delivery van, before delivering everything to your door in one convenient delivery, during the one hour time slot you have selected.”
Nathan said that it was clear that people’s lives are becoming much more hectic, resulting in spare time becoming increasingly precious and therefore weekly shopping is a much more inconvenient task.
“With a larger range and lower prices than you may expect, Locavo is a fantastic way to eat high quality, fresh produce while supporting numerous independent businesses, local families and the community of Malton without taking any more time out of your busy life,” he said.
“Whether we like it or not e-commerce is here to stay and will continue to evolve.
“My ultimate passion and objective is to encourage people to eat local produce and to support as many local, independent shops as possible in their fight against the supermarkets.
“I will continue to upload new shops and new products to our already large range over the coming months.”
