A TEENAGE boy is in a critical condition in hospital after he was involved in a collision with a car while riding his bike in the Selby district.
A black Volkswagen Passat and a white BMX style bike being ridden by a 15-year-old boy collided on the A19 near Eggborough Power Station at around 9.15pm on Monday, North Yorkshire Police said.
The young cyclist was also travelling with another cyclist at the time of the collision, the force added.
It said the driver of the car, a man in his 30s, was uninjured however, the 15-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries and remains in a critical condition.
The road was closed for around six hours while officers from the Roads Policing Group and Forensic Collision Investigation Unit examined the scene.
