A FIRE involving 39 waste gas cylinders by the side of a major North Yorkshire road was started deliberately, firefighters have revealed.

Two crews from Selby Fire Station dealt with the blaze yesterday evening which also included 50 used tyres.

After the fire by the side of the A63 at Lumby had been extinguished, a North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said they believed the fire had been deliberately started.

It is not believed anyone was injured in the blaze.
