GRAVES at Selby Cemetery were "desecrated" by vandals this week.
Selby Town Council said on Friday "several" graves were vandalised at the cemetery, including a fresh plot, with tributes and flowers scattered around the grounds.
A spokeswoman for the council said: "It's the second time in as many weeks and we have also had a bin turned over and it's just a mess down there.
"We're asking people to remain vigilant and if they see anything to phone us or police if out of hours. The cemetery is an area of contemplation and we don't want people to be upset by what's happening."
Anyone with information should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting job 276 of Friday, July 13.
