MERCURY Prize nominee Nick Mulvey will make his Pocklington Arts Centre debut on October 9 on his 18-date acoustic tour this autumn.

The Cambridge singer-songwriter will be playing solo in Britain and Ireland after performing in a trio when touring earlier this year, selling out London's Royal Albert Hall along the way.

Pocklington Arts Centre forms part of a more intimate tour for Mulvey, who studied music in Havana, Cuba, and was a founder member of 2008 Mercury Prize nominees Portico Quartet. His 2014 solo debut First Mind was nominated too and he has since released Wake Up Now last September on Fiction Records.

Arts centre director Janet Farmer says: "Nick Mulvey’s career has without doubt been going from strength to strength, with him enjoying some much coveted airtime on national radio. To be able to sell out a venue such as the Royal Albert Hall is a true testament to just what a talented performer he is.

"So we're delighted that he's not only coming to Pocklington, but also that we'll be one of only a handful of small, intimate venues to feature on his acoustic solo tour. I've seen Nick perform on several occasions, from the intimate setting of a church hall at South By South West in Austin, Texas, to the main stage at Cambridge Folk Festival. He's a truly wonderful performer and it really is going to be a privilege to welcome him here for the first time."

This autumn's shows brings Mulvey's Wake Up Now travels to their most stripped-back format after he toured in a five-piece band and then the aforementioned trio.
