COQUETTE Cabaret celebrate their tenth anniversary in York by inviting you to join them on a trip to the Moulin Ouse at the Great Yorkshire Fringe on July 28.

York’s very own purveyors of cabaret and burlesque delights promise a scintillating new show at 8pm in the Turn Pot spiegeltent at St Sampson’s Square, starring Anna Fur Laxis, Lou Safire, Em Brulee, Velma Von Bon Bon and Trevor Organ.

"For one night only, be tantalised and tickled by Yorkshire’s answer to the Moulin Rouge: Moulin Ouse!" say Coquette co-producer Daisy De Lux.

"Our cabaret-style show will hosted by show-woman extraordinaire and acclaimed jazz vocalist Em Brulee, who will be joined by some of the UK’s leading performers, including burlesque superstar Anna Fur Laxis. Anna has performed her inimitable brand of tease all over the world and graced stages from Europe and America to Australia and Asia.

"Bringing a more comic twist to burlesque will be the extremely silly Velma Von Bon Bon, who mixes comedy, circus and glamour into a deliciously daft cocktail."

International vaudevillian Lou Safire will treat his Moulin Ouse crowd to "two unique acts with a bohemian streak", while Trevor Organ will be demonstrating the fiendish art of plate spinning.

"For our tenth birthday, we decided to invite back some of our favourite performers who have worked with us over the past decade," says co-producer Pandora Amour. "We realised we had a list of more than 160 potential performers, so narrowing it down was very tricky. It’s amazing to think how far we have come since our very first Coquette show, back in 1998, at what was then The Speakeasy in Gillygate. Our audiences can now enjoy our productions in much more glamorous surroundings."

Tickets cost £18 from the Fringe website, greatyorkshirefringe.com, or Bob the Box Office Bus in Parliament Street, York. "All in all, expect a night of glamour, laughs and stunning costumes," says Daisy.
