A FUN-packed Haxby Carnival will take place this weekend and will feature a range of attractions, including a climbing wall, crazy golf and live music.

Taking place on Saturday on the Ethel Ward Playing Field, Haxby, there will be a procession with the carnival queen, Alexia Watkinson and her two attendants, Lauren Coverdale and Abigail Sterling.

They will leave the village green at 12.45pm to arrive on the field by 1pm for the opening ceremony.

The carnival will be hosted by YO1 Radio’s own Chris Marsden and Dougie Weake who will be judging a fancy dress competition.

Visitors can see the Shotokan Karate Club, the Brownies, Guides, Cubs and Scouts and children’s entertainer The Magic Hatter.

There will be performances from City of York Pipe Band, The Vintage Dance Group, The Rhythm Exchange Band, The PRTY Band, community-based band Generation Groove and The Community Chorus.
