A RETIREE from Heslington is the winner of this month's Press Camera Club competition with her abstract nature shot.

Lynnette Cammidge, 59, won with her humorous photograph of trees and the river in Bodnant Gardens, a National Trust property near Colwyn Bay in Wales.

Lynnette has been an amateur photographer since her father, a former wedding photographer, died five years ago and she decided to try out his camera for size.

Earlier this year, she took a photography night class at Huntington School to learn the basics and is still using her dad's camera.

Her winning shot came about by accident as she hadn't seen the face illusion in the reflection until she was going through her shots.

Her prize was a canvas print of the winning image, supplied by The Press Camera club sponsors Jessops, in Coney Street, York, and a cheque for £50.
