A FIRST World War aircraft, painstakingly rebuilt by a team of experts, will be among those taking pride of place at the national celebration of the RAF’s centenary.

The BE2c has been completely restored by the aircraft heritage team at the Yorkshire Air Museum, at Elvington, near York.

Many hundreds of hours of work were put into the project and the aircraft is now in London ready to go on public display during the ceremonies on Horse Guards Parade starting on July 6 and which will culminate in a major flypast over the capital on July 10.

Its presence follows the museum’s huge success in organising the “100 Years of Co-operation” with the Royal Air Force and French Air Force in central Paris in late May.
