YORK-headquartered shoe retailer Pavers has reported a 250 per cent surge in sandal sales as Britain’s heat wave continues.

The business, based at Northminster business park, has reported a 250 per cent rise in sales at Scottish stores and a 200 per cent uplift for all other Pavers stores elsewhere in the UK, when comparing with last year.

The sales boost coincides with Glasgow experiencing the hottest day since records began, reaching an unexpected 31.9C.

Stuart Paver, managing director, Pavers, said: “This heatwave is ramping up our sandal sales to the point we’re concerned we’ll run out of our summer styles.

“We’re seeing empty shelves in our warehouse which would otherwise be stocked up and although we’re working with our suppliers, we’re struggling to re-stock at the same pace that we’re selling.”
