FAIRFAX House has been transformed into a floral paradise with the help of dedicated members of the Acomb Flower Guild.

And the displays are inspired by the venue's summer exhibition, The Genius of Grinling Gibbons, which celebrates the work of the famous wood-carver.

Floral displays have been installed all over the Georgian interior of the house, with organisers promising a bold and beautiful show featuring contemporary designs and innovative materials.

Hannah Phillip, director of Fairfax House, said: "2018 is a remarkable year of anniversaries. It is tremendously fitting that Acomb Flower Guild should be joining us once again – not only for the tenth anniversary of the first Flower Festival held at Fairfax House, but also in the 50th anniversary year of the guild. More importantly, the festival is also being staged as part of Bloom! York, a city-wide festival marking the 250th anniversary of the Ancient Society of York Florists, founded in 1768. We are delighted to be collaborating and marking all these special occasions together."

The festival runs until Sunday.
