IF you want a taste of 10th century York with your tonic then look no further.
Drinks company York Gin has teamed up with the Jorvik Viking Centre to launch a range of gin inspired by the warriors - who enjoyed an alcoholic drink themselves.
Marketing manager Paul Whiting said: "The Vikings loved a drink, and traditionally consumed alcoholic beverages like mead and ale. Although they had left our shores 600 years before the first gin was first brought to the UK, this invitation to collaborate with York Gin was just too good to miss."
The spirit is mixed with bilberries and nettles and was launched for Bloom! festical. It can be sampled at Evil Eye bar on Stonegate, with bottles on sale at the Viking centre.
Emma Godivala from York Gin added: "We’re using traditional methods to create a classic dry gin that fits perfectly with both the historic city and modern tastes."
