A NORTH Yorkshire carpenter has scooped a top award for his first ever self-build project.
Philip Coe has recently completed the conversion of a former barn into an eco-friendly two-bedroomed house within his home village of Thornton-le-Clay, in Ryedale. The 25-year-old completed most of the work himself.
Interior design was undertaken by his partner Flo Cooper who lives and works alongside Philip in their newly-founded business FloCoe Interiors.
The local building inspector was so impressed with the high quality of work on the property, that he suggested it be nominated for the North and East Yorkshire LABC Building Excellence Awards under the category of ‘Best change of use of an existing building.’
After winning this category, the business then went on to win the overall Supreme Award, selected from all the individual categories.
