A delicate damselfly; a puppy with a taste for lager; horseback acrobatics; and a fateful moment from Romeo & Juliet at Shakespeare's Rose: there's plenty of variety in this week's selection of images from The Press Camera Club.

There's beauty in the fragile elegance of Lynne Kinder's 'funny little creature'; and humour in Mandy Dean's portrait of a puppy supping from a lager can. "The can was empty!" stresses Mandy. So no pups were harmed in the making of this photo...

There's humour, too, in Erika Bracegirdle's Tales of the River Bank - a snapshot of York's ice cream boat moored beside the banks of the River Ouse, complete with plastic cow and giant plastic ice cream cones to advertise its presence.

Mark Barratt captured a wonderfully flaming sky at Hessay - sometimes it really is all about being in the right place at the right time, as England's Harry Kane can testify. And when it comes to portraits - well, they don't come much better than Stephen Hillyer's study of the driver of the Class 09 Shunter at the NRM.

Which isn't, of course, to prejudice the outcome of this month's #portrait competition, the winners of which will be announced next week...
