A CYCLIST has told a jury how a man lunged at him a couple of times with a screwdriver and headbutted him on a Selby street in the early hours.

Gary Rowntree said he had followed a man immediately after his bicycle was stolen from outside his flat, believing he was the thief.

He said the headbutt gave him a “white out” so that he couldn’t see and felt dizzy for some time afterwards, and the other man escaped.

“I will remember his face forever,” he told the jury at York Crown Court.

The jury heard he identified Wesley Jordan Glover, 27, as the man at a police ID procedure.

Glover, of Parkgate, Rotherham, denies theft, carrying an offensive weapon and causing actual bodily harm after dawn on May 23.

He claims he has been misidentified. The trial continues.
