EXPLORE the fascinating history of the city with a guided tour from the York Civic Trust.

The Trust’s annual recruitment drive continues today, with volunteers stationed in a marquee in St Sampson’s Square, from 9.30am until 3.30pm.

Free guided walks, taking in sights from medieval, Georgian, Roman and Victorian York, will leave every half hour.

Trustee John Vincent, the organiser of the two-day event, said: “If you care about York’s future, or if you’d like to get involved in sharing your love of the city’s history and heritage,

why not come along to meet us?

“We’ll be delighted to talk to you about the Trust’s work - and we’d love to welcome you as a member, so that you too can get involved in the fight to preserve York for future generations.”

Last year’s event resulted in about 100 new members.
