TWO friends will kayak across Loch Ness, scale Ben Nevis and cycle 180 miles home to York as part of a fundraising challenge to support children suffering from cancer.

Darren Grant and Shaun Wilson are taking on the four-day feat in memory of Darren's niece, Nioni Grant, who sadly lost her life to leukaemia in January 2016.

With support from their friend Steve Marron, the pair hope to raise as much money as possible for charity Candlelighters.

Darren, who has supported the charity for the past two years and has already helped raise more than £1,100 for the organisation, said he is looking forward to the 22-mile kayak across across Loch Ness.

He added: "The work Candlelighters do is just amazing, it's very close to our hearts.

"I'm looking forward to it, it's a huge challenge.

"The two things I can't stand when I'm cycling are rain and wind so I might have to hold on to the back of the van.

"A lot of people came out to meet us at the finish line last year, all a wanted at the end of the challenge was a Kopparberg.

"I will be looking forward to that beer at the finish line."

The group are setting off on June 25 and due to arrive at Tower Gardens at 2pm on June 30.
