YORK Hospital's A&E has been awarded £4,900 to improve a cubicle to make it a safer and more suitable environment for patients with mental health problems.
Cubicle ‘C’ will be improved with money from the Department of Health and Social Care’s Beyond Places of Safety Fund, following an application by the hospital and Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys Foundation NHS Trust, Mental Health Liaison Team.
Mike Lee from York Hospital said: "The Emergency Department is a busy and highly pressurised environment, which isn’t suitable for patients who are vulnerable or who have mental health problems.
"This funding will mean that we can create a more suitable, safe environment which will improve patient experience and ensure they get the best support we can offer."
