ACOMB residents are invited to share their views on the future of the old Manor School site at a public meeting on Monday.

The Friends of Acomb Park are meeting at Lidgett Grove Church from 5.30pm to discuss the site of the former school, which is currently being demolished.

The area is currently closed to the public for health and safety considerations.

In a Facebook video, Acomb ward councillor Stuart Barnes said: “For families who are busy to have this on their doorstep and not be able to get in is criminal.

“I’m calling for York Council to open up the playing fields in time for the summer holiday.

“Let’s scrap the plans to designate this field as an area for strategic housing. Let’s keep it as public open space.”
