TWO PUPILS have left a private school near York over drug allegations.

The students left Pocklington School over the Easter weekend, following allegations of a student being involved with cannabis.

Mark Ronan, headmaster of Pocklington School, said an investigation had been carried out by the school, and confirmed two pupils had left the school.

He said: "I was made aware of allegations concerning drugs which we referred to the Police and East Riding Safeguarding Children Board. In accordance with their advice, we carried out a thorough investigation in line with our procedures.

"From our enquiries, we found no evidence of drug possession, use or supply on school premises. However, there was an incident involving cannabis which took place away from the school and with no connection to school activities during the Easter holidays. Following this investigation, two pupils are no longer at the school."

The pupils are the latest to leave schools in the region over drug allegations.

In May, The Press reported how a 16-year-old boy had been expelled from Bootham School after North Yorkshire Police were called to the school over allegations of suspected drug dealing.
