POLICE investigating an attempted handbag robbery in North Yorkshire at the weekend have issued an e-fit of the suspect.

Officers are appealing to anyone who can help them identify the man from the e-fit to contact them.

The incident happened at around 11.25am on Sunday, North Yorkshire Police said.

A spokesman for the force explained: "The victim was walking down Duchy Avenue in Harrogate when she was approached from behind by a man. The man grabbed hold of her handbag and attempted to take it from her.

"After struggling with the victim for a couple of seconds, the man gave up and released the bag and left the area, going back up Duchy Avenue, in the direction of Glebe Road.

"The victim, a 34-year-old woman from Harrogate, was left unhurt but very shaken by the incident."

The man is described as in his late 20s, around 5ft 11in tall and clean shaven. He is described as being of a large, chubby build and was wearing a dark coloured baseball cap, dark coloured tracksuit bottoms and an orange hoody with a dark coloured jacket over the top.
