TEMPERATURES are set to soar as high as 26C in York by early next week after a good weekend for barbecues and sunbathing.

Forecasters say high pressure is set to dominate the weather in York and North Yorkshire over the next ten days, with very little - if any- rain, and plenty of sunshine.

Today will feel rather cool in York with maximum temperatures of 'only' 18C and with a noticeable north-westerly breeze.

The mercury will gradually rise, to 19C tomorrow, 20 on Saturday, and 23 by Sunday, before peaking at 26 on Monday and then falling a little during the week.
