A drugs case against a man arrested in connection with a stabbing in York has been withdrawn.

The 22-year-old man from Huddersfield was among three men arrested within 24 hours of a man in his thirties being found with serious but not life-threatening injuries in Walmgate just before midnight on April 18.

He was later charged with possessing cannabis in a different part of the city a fortnight after the stabbing.

When the case came before York magistrates, the prosecution dropped the charge.

Two other men remain on bail, only one of which was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.
