THE Proclaimers, who head to Scarborough and York in July and October respectively, will release their new album, Angry Cyclist, on August 10 on Cooking Vinyl.

Produced by Dave Eringa, Scotsmen Craig and Charlie Reid's first record since 2015's Let’s Hear It For The Dogs will feature a track listing of first single Angry Cyclist; Stretch; Streets Of Edinburgh; Then It Comes To Me; You Make Me Happy; Looted; The Hours Between; Information; Sometimes It’s the Fools; A Way With Words; Classy; The Battle Of The Booze and I’d Ask The Questions.

Strings adorn the title track, the Leith twins' response to "the reactionary and bigoted times we live in", and their coruscating, dry-witted observations continue on Looted, a song about "the theft of the British Empire", and Classy, with its "wry look at the ludicrous strata of the British class system". Elsewhere, Streets Of Edinburgh is a moving paean to their home city and You Make Me Happy and Sometimes It’s The Fools are jauntily joyful.

Tickets are still available for The Proclaimers' gigs at Scarborough Spa Grand Hall gig on July 29 and Hull City Hall on October 20, but their York Barbican show on October 17 has sold out.
