A YORK cricket club has got permission to build a new scorer’s box and storage facility at its site.

Clifton Alliance Cricket Club applied for permission for a new building to house a scorer’s box, storage space, toilets and a kitchen at its grounds off Shipton Road.

The case had to be decided at a full City of York Council planning meeting, because it counted as “inappropriate development in the greenbelt”. However, on Thursday, councillors agreed the proposals had “very special circumstances” and approved the plans, with Cllr Janet Looker saying the successful community club should be encouraged.
