THE first Eboracum Sessions Acoustic and Folk Sesh will be held at the Black Swan Inn, on Peasholme Green, York on July 28 from 3pm to 9pm.

"Our live music session has set the bar high for our first event by showcasing the work of some of the most celebrated talent from York and beyond," says organiser Ellen Cole, who by night is the curator of Eboracum Sessions and York’s Little Festival of Live Music and by day a marketing, PR and social media professional.

She cannot wait to see how the event goes. "I've been working on music festivals for a number of years and I'm always so grateful to our audiences who have supported our music events year after year," she says. "I'm really nervous about Eboracum Sessions as it's my first attempt at preparing and delivering a non-festival music event, but we've already sold 25 per cent of the tickets and I'd love nothing more than for the sessions to sell out.

"The Acoustic and Folk Sesh, as I've named it, will be a six-hour long family-friendly event that's going to bring together the best in acoustic and folk talent, as well as those who rarely play in York."

The line-up will feature Odin Dragonfly, the acoustic, multi-instrumental duo of past and present Mostly Autumn members Heather Findlay and Angela Gordon, performing a rare live set; ethereal York folk singer Rachel Croft; storytelling singer Gracie Falls, from the Yorkshire coast, who won the UK Unsigned Songwriter of the Year Competition; York lullaby folk duo The Bronze, comprising Holly Taymar and Chris Bilton; York's Americana/roots stalwart Boss Caine, promoting his March album Loved By Trouble, Troubled By Love; and East Yorkshire folk singer Edwina Hayes.

"Every single act is so different from one another, but all complement one another so well," says Ellen. "Although I cannot wait to see everyone’s performances, I'm particularly excited about Odin Dragonfly’s set as I've never seen them live before. They're one of the finest female duos on the circuit and they rarely play in their hometown of York, so it's going to be such a treat."

The event has received a "generous" grant from Theakston Brewery in Masham. "This gives Eboracum Sessions the opportunity to grow, develop and to make its stamp on the York music scene," says Ellen.

Tickets cost £6, plus booking fee, at eventbrite.co.uk/e/eboracum-sessions or £8 on the door from 2.45pm. For more information, visit facebook.com/EboracumSessions, follow the sessions at twitter.com/EboracumSesh or join them at instagram.com/eboracumsessions/.
