TWO residents were taken to hospital after yesterday's blaze in a block of flats in Haxby.
Eight fire crews tackled the blaze inside the two-storey building on Wheatfield Lane, off Meadow Lane.
The fire started in a first floor flat, causing severe fire damage.
Fire damage was also caused to adjacent properties and the roof and the whole building suffered smoke damage.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire fire service said: "Two residents were taken to hospital but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."
Crews will visit the scene this morning. The cause is yet to be confirmed.
