DALISO Chaponda, who finished third in the 2017 series of Britain's Got Talent, tops tomorrow's 8pm bill at the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club in The Fishergate at York Barbican .

"We've been booking Daliso for almost a decade, but now you'll recognise him from the TV," says host Damion Larkin. "Not many comedians are a raving success in every continent across the globe, but Daliso has breezed to success just about everywhere.

"Beginning his comedy career in Canada at the prestigious The Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, his subsequent appearances, including CBC Television’s Trans Canada Comedy Trail, have confirmed his position as Africa’s top comic."

Now 38, the Malawi-born comedian won over millions of BGT fans with his cutting remarks about living as an African in Britain. Since then, he has launched his BBC Radio 4 show Daliso Chaponda: Citizen Of Nowhere and this year he began his first world tour. "But we've still managed to book him for you in York, so come and laugh like a drain at one of the globe's funniest acts," says Larkin.

Milo McCabe will be performing in his latest guise as Troy Hawke, an erudite, home-schooled 1930s throwback – the Errol Flynn of the high street, no less – who is educated, sophisticated, but utterly clueless. Tomorrow, Hawke tackles modern issues head on in his distinctive untimely manner.

Multi-award winning Matt Rees promises well-crafted gags and an acerbic delivery and master of ceremonies Larkin will be improvising his set as ever. Tickets cost £17 on 0844 854 2757,at lolcomedyclubs.co.uk or from the Barbican box office in person or £22.95 on the door from 7.30pm.

The next Laugh Out Loud night will be on June 22.
