YORK Pride takes place today with one of the city’s biggest employers, insurance giant Aviva, front and centre of both the parade through the city and the main event on Knavesmire.
Aviva, the main partner of the York Pride charity, has again raised the rainbow flag over its riverside offices.
Rob Gardner, York local lead for Aviva Pride, said it was ‘incredibly happy’ with its ongoing partnership and said Pride was ‘hands down the best free and family-friendly event happening in York,’ adding: “Every year we raise rainbow flags on our offices up and down the country, but this we we have pushed the boat out by also illuminating our York office with fabulous rainbow lights in support of our LGBT+ customers.”
York Pride chair Greg Stephenson said Aviva had been ‘incredibly supportive.’ Today’s parade sets off from the Minster at about noon.
