A PICKERING hairdresser has raised £1,676 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance with a sponsored head shave.

Amporn Pool, who runs Amporn’s Hair Salon in Pickering, will also donate the hair she had removed to the Little Princess charity, which makes wigs for children and young adults who have undergone hair loss through illness.

Amporn said she chose the YAA as two of her customers were saved by the service in circumstances where they would not otherwise have survived.

She braved the clippers in Thailand in mid-April as part of a stay at a temple.

She said: “I just want to say thank you to everyone. It’s a good cause, I’m really proud and happy to do it.”

She added she plans to go through it all again in three years - when her hair has grown back.
