A TEENAGE boy has been expelled from a York school over drug dealing allegations.

North Yorkshire Police officers confirmed they were called to Bootham School on Friday over “suspected drug dealing”, and The Press understands a 16-year-old boy was the focus of the allegations, but the force would not confirm his age or the classification of drug.

A spokesman for the school said: “We can confirm that a Year 11 pupil has been permanently excluded from Bootham School after admitting being involved in the supply of illegal drugs outside school. There is no evidence known to us that drugs have been brought on to school premises.”

Head teacher, Chris Jeffery, said: “We have found no evidence at all to suggest that any drugs were brought onto the school site or handed over there. We do know that money was handed over for possible supply later, outside school.

“Bootham School remains committed to ensuring that its site is a drugs-free environment, and will continue to act as decisively as it has done in response to any future behaviour that threatens that commitment.”

A force spokeswoman said nobody had been arrested in connection with the incident, but an investigation was ongoing.

She said: “Police are aware of an incident at Bootham school involving suspected drug dealing. Officers were called to the school on the morning on Friday, May 25, and are fully investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Anyone who has seen anything suspicious in the school, or who has any concerns about any pupils at the school, are asked to contact police. Dial 101, press 1 and ask to speak to the Force Control Room.”
