YORK Shakespeare Project is looking for performers to take part in this summer's Sonnet Walks 2018 in and around York city centre at the end of July.

Auditions for those wanting to be involved will be held at Southlands Methodist Church, Bishopthorpe Road, York on Sunday (June 3) from 2pm to 4.30pm and Tuesday from 7pm to 9.30pm.

"We're hoping to find some new talent," says YSP stalwart Maurice Chrichton, who is co-producing and co-directing the walks with Mick Taylor, whose past roles include John the Baptist in the 2016 York Mystery Plays in York Minster. Taylor steps up to co-directing after taking part in last summer's sonnets walks.

"The walks will take place from Friday, July 20 to Saturday, July 28 with the possibility of some additional walks in August," says Crichton. "These will be open auditions, so we’d be pleased to see anyone at all who is interested in getting involved, whether they have taken part before or not.

"We hope to assemble a balanced cast: a good mix of age, gender and different levels of experience. For a 15-minute audition slot, more information and answers to queries, please email maurice.crichton@ntlworld.com.

"If you're keen to be involved but can’t attend, or can’t manage all the [performance] dates, do get in touch and we'll try to fit you in. Commitment, playfulness and enthusiasm are the key."
