THEY do like to re-invent the wheel (“T-levels to be taught in York”, The Press, May 28).
We had an excellent group of technical colleges individually known as “the Poly”, then some prime minister said they are all to become universities.
At the technical college or poly tech it was possible to follow a technical course to any level including degree level. I believe it was better than the qualification obtained at university because it included working in the industry to obtain the practical skills at the same time as studying.
